Comparison
of Deconvolution Algorithms
ZNova Deconvolution
60 kD protein
deconvoluted spectra
The same input
spectrum was processed with either BioMass or ZNova
The comparison of the deconvoluted spectra shown above
demonstrate that ZNova generates much “cleaner” deconvoluted spectra than that
produced by a Mann-type algorithm like that employed by the ThermoFinnigan BioMass
software (4, 5). BioMass also produces and uneven baseline from
the known component removal process.
This is not observed with ZNova deconvolution, as the baseline is
removed prior to processing. Another key advantage of ZNova is that it reports
statistics including standard deviation and score, which help the user
determine if the transformed signals are due to real components or are due to random
accumulation of noise events.
